OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MILITARY RUNS DEEP AND TRUE
In 1939, Allan A. and Allan C. Myers went into partnership in starting a hauling company – one dump truck with a name on the door “Allan A. Myers and Son.” Together they split the duties of tending to the farm and hauling rocks, dirt and lime to nearby farmers. Two short years later, Allan C. took temporary leave of their new company and answered the calling of his country in response to the bombing that devastated Pearl Harbor in 1941. His experience over the next three years would shape the future of our company for generations to come.
As part of a U.S. Navy construction battalion (also known as CB or “Sea Bees”), Allan C. helped build airfields and other infrastructure projects in the South Pacific during World War II. He brought what he learned back to the family business, informing our work as we expanded our capabilities in the decades that followed.
But, Myers didn’t just return with construction-industry best practices. He returned with a service man’s mindset that has influenced our company’s culture ever since, building an organization where we have each other’s back. The “CAN DO” midset of the Sea Bees is alive and well at Allan Myers.
Today, we actively recruit veterans for positions in all of our divisions, from professional services to craft and skilled labor to CDL drivers. We also work closely with the Partnership for Youth Success Program, which helps soldiers prepare for careers after serving by connecting them with employers who understand the skill, discipline and work ethic that they can bring to a business.
