American Infrastructure Wins Project of the Year Award from the American Society of Highway Engineers
Worcester, Pennsylvania – American Infrastructure, a leading heavy construction company and materials supplier, today announced that it was awarded the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Delaware Valley’s Project of the Year award in the Over $10 million category for the Route 29 All Electronic Toll Interchange project in Chester County, PA. The construction firm was presented with the award at the ceremony held on April 17.
“This project is a perfect example of how our team is able to collaborate with a diverse group of organizations to successfully construct a project,” said American Infrastructure’s Chairman and CEO, A. Ross Myers. “We are honored to be recognized by ASHE and I am proud of the entire project team that followed through on our core principles to complete this project with the highest level of excellence.”
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Route 29 All-Electronic Interchange links State Route 29 with the mainline Turnpike (Interstate 76) in Chester County. It is a new four-way, all electronic (EZ-Pass) interchange designed to ease the traffic burden on surface roads in the Great Valley area. In the planning process for 20 years, the $60 million project that was started in March 2011 encompassed three townships and was completed in December 2012. In addition to a focus on quality, environmentally-sound principles throughout the construction process were a priority on this project, as well as the safety of the workers, and limiting the disruption to travelers.
The ASHE Delaware Valley Project of the Year competition is based on projects completed in 2012 that have been constructed within the geographic boundaries of the five county region surrounding Philadelphia. The selection was based on design, construction and quality approach; schedule and cost performance; safety; and an owner’s statement.
